It is impossible to say how Thomas Shires's undoubted talent for photography would have evolved over the years.

But sadly his life ended in 1905 at the age of 28.

Shaky Bridge in Longsight Park near Firwood in Bolton. At first sight this scene is unrecognisable, however the weir is in exactly the same position under the bridge and the remains of the culvert can still be found.
